ISSB and Initial Test preparation: your questions answered

What is the ISSB?

ISSB (Inter Services Selection Board) is the five-day selection process for candidates who want to join the Pakistan Army, Navy or Air Force as commissioned officers. Psychologists, Group Testing Officers (GTO) and deputy presidents judge your personality, leadership, confidence, intelligence, decision-making and physical fitness through psych tests, group tasks, interviews and outdoor activities.

What is OTCO?

OTCO is an online ISSB prep portal and Initial Test preparation platform for Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force candidates. You practise the ISSB psych tests on real timers, read guides for every ISSB day and solve Initial Test MCQs, all on your phone or laptop.

Which ISSB tests can I practise on OTCO?

All the Psych Day tests with real timers: Word Association Test (WAT), Sentence Completion Test (SCT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), Picture Story, Point Story, the Officer Personality Test (OPI) and the Mechanical Aptitude Test (MAT). There are also guides for Arrival Day, the GTO Day 1 and Day II tasks (group discussion, military planning, group tasks, command task and individual obstacles), the interviews and mutual assessment.

What is the Initial Test and does OTCO cover it?

The Initial Test comes before the ISSB: verbal and non-verbal intelligence tests and an academic test, followed by medical, physical, essay writing and an interview. OTCO's Initial Test module, for Army PMA Long Course and TCC candidates, has 750+ timed MCQs with instant results, four non-verbal booklets, a BMI calculator and guides for every step.

Which forces and courses does OTCO support?

Pakistan Army (PMA Long Course, DSSC, TCC, Lady Cadet Course and SSC), Pakistan Navy (PN Cadet and SSC) and Pakistan Air Force (GD Pilot). The ISSB module is the same for every force.
